Description
Spektr-RG is a Russian project with German participation aimed at creating an orbital astrophysical observatory designed to study the Universe in the X-ray wavelength range.
The project involves the creation of a national high-energy astrophysics observatory, continuing the sequence of Astron and Granat astrophysics satellites, also developed by Lavochkin, JSC. The SC is constructed according to the modular principle, has good orientation and stabilization characteristics, and allows to observe practically the entire celestial sphere during a year.
The Spektr-RG SC was injected into the vicinity of L2 Lagrange point of the Sun-Earth system. Astrophysical research is planned for 6.5 years, of which 4 years - in the mode of scanning the sky of stars, and 2.5 years - in the mode of point observations of objects in the Universe on the request of the world scientific community.
