Description
РThe Electro-L spacecraft family id developed and manufactured in frame of Federal Space Program of Russia. The spacecraft are part of the Electro geostationary hydrometeorological space system and are designed to provide the Federal Service of Russia for Hydrometeorology and Environmental Monitoring, as well as other organizations with operational hydrometeorological data for:
- global synoptic analysis and weather forecast (the cloud formations’ nature and parameters, frontal sections, features of air mass circulation, spontaneous hydrometeorological phenomena);
- analysis and forecast of the waters of the seas and oceans (agitation, sea surface temperature, run-up processes near the coasts);
- analysis of spatio-temporal changes of the snow cover state, moisture reserves in order to predict the growth of agricultural crops;
- analysis and forecast for aviation flights (the magnitude and height of the upper boundary of clouds, wind direction and speed at three levels of the atmosphere, jet streams, aircraft rolling zones, zones of development of active convection in the atmosphere);
- analysis and forecast of the heliogeophysical situation in near-Earth space, the state of the ionosphere and the Earth magnetic field;
- climate and global changes monitoring;
- environmental control and environmental protection (environmental control in industrial areas, detection of snow cover pollution) and emergency control (monitoring of emergency areas in order to assess the consequences of natural disasters, accidents, catastrophes and planning measures to eliminate them, control the occurrence and consequences of forest fires).
