Description
The spacecraft delivered the self-propelled Lunokhod-2 vehicle to the lunar surface to conduct scientific research on the surface of the Moon. Lunokhod-2 covered a distance of 37 km, which was 3,5 times greater than the distance covered by the first self-propelled Lunokhod-1 vehicle. During this time 93 telephotometric panoramas and about 89 thousand pictures of slow-scanned television were transmitted to the Earth; also, measurements of chemical composition of the lunar soil and magnetic measurements were performed.
